If you provide comments to The Pantry regarding your experience at our restaurants and franchises, use credit cards or travellers cheques to pay for meals, order The Pantry gift certificates, enter one of The Pantry contests or promotions, apply for a Pantry franchise, seek employment opportunities at The Pantry, or have other interactions with The Pantry, you may provide us with certain Personal Information related to those interactions.

The Pantry does not and will not give, sell, rent, share or loan your Personal Information to others except with your prior permission, as disclosed in this policy, as may be permitted or required by law, or in certain cases if we engage a third party to provide services to us and the third party is bound by confidentiality obligations. The Pantry takes reasonable steps to ensure that your Personal Information is kept safe from loss, unauthorized access, modification or disclosure. 

Personal Information will be retained in accordance with this policy only for as long as may be necessary or relevant for the purpose of collection or as may be required or permitted by law, after which time it will be destroyed or made anonymous unless you further consent to its continued retention.

We will generally notify you of the purposes of the collection, use and disclosure of the Personal Information at the time of collection, unless the purpose is obvious and you voluntarily provide the information (as in the case of providing your credit card to pay for a meal) or we are required or authorized by law to do so.  Without limiting the foregoing, The Pantry may collect, use and disclose particular types of Personal Information as follows:


If you voluntarily provide us with comments on your experiences at The Pantry restaurants and franchises, we may forward Personal Information you provide to us to the relevant restaurant and franchise, and that restaurant, franchise and ourselves may use that information in order to respond to, keep a record of, administer and make known within The Pantry and its franchises your comments or inquiries.


If you enter a The Pantry contest or promotion, we will use any Personal Information provided in order to conduct and administer the contest or promotion in accordance with its rules.  We may also contact you regarding promotions we believe will be of interest to you.


If you apply for or make inquiries regarding employment at The Pantry, we will use any Personal Information provided, such as your resume, in order to review and assess your application.  This may include contacting references and otherwise verifying with others information provided to us.  If you become or are an employee of The Pantry, we also have a separate privacy policy for employee information.


If you apply for or make inquiries about obtaining a The Pantry franchise, we will use any Personal Information provided in order to review and assess your candidacy and for the purposes of your business contacts and relationship with us.  This may include contacting references and conducting credit and background checks with others in accordance with your signed consent provided to us.


You can visit the The Pantry website without registering or providing any Personal Information at all.  However, at certain portions of our website, such as the “Comments” page, employment page and franchise page, website visitors may provide us with certain Personal Information.  Please remember that you control what Personal Information you provide to The Pantry while visiting our website.  We cannot guarantee the confidentiality or security of any e-mail communications or information sent by you to us via the website.  If you wish to send us confidential information, please notify us first to make arrangements.  The Pantry’s website does not use cookies or automatically collect Personal Information from visitors.

This policy is governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the laws of Canada applicable therein, excluding any conflict of laws rules that would apply another body of law.  This policy constitutes and contains the entire agreement between you and The Pantry with respect to its subject matter and supersedes any prior oral or written agreements.  If any provision of this policy is held to be illegal or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that this policy will otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable.
